Well over half (57%) of Communications Service Providers (CSPs) feel less prepared for the transition to LTE/4G/NGN and managing the associated opportunities and risks than they should be, according to WeDo Technologies.
This figure has actually risen in the past 12 months, as this time last year only 40% of CSPs felt they weren’t as prepared for LTE as they should be. WeDo Technologies surveyed representatives from CSPs around the world at its eighth annual Worldwide User Group in Portugal at the end of May.
The survey went on to reveal that only just over a third of CSPs regard the roll out of 4G/LTE thus far as a success.
Rui Paiva, Chief Executive Officer at WeDo Technologies, commented; “Demand for data traffic is driving the launch of 4G globally and marketing and sales departments are reacting quickly, but the associated risks need to be carefully considered to ensure that services are secure. This is why CSPs are feeling unprepared and perhaps not where they thought they would be 12 months ago. Revenue Assurance requires a considered and thorough approach to ensure opportunities are maximized and risks are minimized”, Paiva continued.
The survey also revealed that the industries CSPs felt would most likely deliver stronger win-win co-operation/partnerships with the telecoms industry have changed over the last 12 months and rather than large retailers would now be banks and insurance companies (33%), followed by energy distributors/retailers (26%).
